		abstract={Indonesia is one country with the largest laterite ore reserves in the world. Nickel content is derived from laterite ore is a raw material in the steel industry. This study aims to determine the effect of temperature and power tempatur against formability and mechanical properties of the steel of 1.56% Ni in hot forging process. Where this research formability of steel 1.56% Ni at the temperature and power that is given so that no cracks, variations in the power that is given to 100 tons, 75 tons and 50 tons, the given temperature variation of 1200°C, 1000°C and 800°C. The sample used a square measuring 40mm x 40mm x 40mm as much as 9 samples. Tests were carried out to see violence, impact test, structural test SEM.}
