Geographically, the Way Besai hydropower plant is located at the eastern end of the Bukit Barisan mountains. The system used is the run of river method, which is changing the direction of the river flow to the main water source at Intek Dam Way Besai. The water is used to be used as basic energy for generating electrical energy. On the other hand, the water is also used as a cooling medium for several components but first passes through several filters due to the dirty water conditions. One of the water filters used is the Shaft Seal filter which functions to cool the turbine shaft seals. Filter Shaft Seals often experience drop pressure due to very dirty water to be used as coolant, so a back wash system is needed on the shaft seal to avoid the occurrence of low pressure differential shaft seal which can damage both the filter and the shaft itself.} }
