		abstract={The development of resindential developments in West Kalimantan has increased rapidly. This pushes the demand for electrical energy to grow. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to do a good planning in establishing a new distribution network so the development, operation and maintenance of the electrical system goes well. Planning related to the development purpose of the distribution system that must fulfill some technical and economical criteria. A planning of distribution system should be implemented systematically with an approach based on load forecasting to obtain an optimal service pattern. There are several load calculations in planning, namely the calculation of customer load, load characteristics, network pattern, drop voltage, and the selection of the new distribution substation?s location. The amount of power that distributed at Karet Indah Pontianak Residential, based on the House type 21 (170 units) is 1,300 VA, and the House type 36 (182 units) is 2,200 VA. The results from obtained data, drop voltage at Karet Indah Pontianak Residential amounted to 30.347 Volt (7.986%) or below 10% of the operating voltage}
