Protection for transmission line that is commonly used is distance relay, where the distance relay works by reading the impedance in the transmission line then compare it the relay setting impedance. When the relay detects a fault, Relay will signal the CB to open. There are 3 type of protection in the distance relay, namely Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3. The method used to study distance relay setting is quantitative method by calculating the impedance of zone 1, zone 2 and zone 3 then calculating the reach distance and impedance readings of the relay. Then, comparing the results of the relay settings from data and calculations with the reference standard used. From the calculation it is known that there are differences in the setting impedance from the data with the calculation. With the differences of 0.0149 ? for zone 1, 0.02246 ? for zone 2, and 0.08722 ? for zone 3. Also from comparison results it is known that the zone 3 impedance from the data setting relay exceeds the allowed standard so it needs to be reset for zone 3 impedance of the distance relay.} }
