abstract={An insulator is an electrical appliance that serves to insulate a voltage conductor with another conductor or conductor with a buffer frame designed to prevent interference with the electricity delivery system and to cause harm to the people under it. Moreover, when there is rain, there can be conductive on the surface of the insulator. Nonetheless, the conductive properties can cause electrical currents to cross the isolator surface so that leakage current phenomenon or discharge occurs. The purpose of this study is to know the characteristics of the isolator of weather. Methods used withstand test and discharge test isolator insulation test against normal weather modelling, the rain, light salt water pollutants and medium level of salt water pollutants are in the testing chamber. As a result, this study the water-conduction level affect the surface of the insulator so that it can affect the value of the discharge and the value of the current leak. Hence, the normal weather modelling insulator can withstand 20 kV voltage on 60 second, the value of normal state discharge 37 kV and the current value is 3.25 mA, when medium level of salt water pollutants is rendering 8 kV and the current value is 12.5 mA. Whereas, the porcelain insulator of normal weather modelling circumstances is also able to withstand 20 kV voltage on 60 second, the value of his normal state discharge is 35 kV and his lesion value is 1.98 mA, when medium level of salt water pollutants is at 5 kV and the current is leaking at 6.23 mA.}
