It is estimated that 500 million to 1 billion plastic types are used in the whole world each year. Due to excessive consumption of plastic type materials, plastic waste accumulates. Plastics are difficult to degrade and are estimated to take 100 to 500 years to decompose completely. This research was conducted to utilize plastic waste as a mixture for construction, in this case paving blocks. The composition of material for making paving blocks are 1 (cement) and 4 (sand) with variations of 0%, 10%, 20%, dan 30% plastic waste as a substitute for fine aggregate. This testing was carried out to compressive the strength at the age of 7 days, 14 days, 28 days and, also 28 days of water absorption testing.In paving blocks making, the result shows that the use of plastic waste as a substitute material can increase the compressive strength of the paving blocks and reduce the percentage of water absorption of the paving blocks themselves after 28 days.The optimum variation mixture of paving blocks with the use of plastic waste is found in a variation of substitute materials of 10% with a compressive strength value of 19.6 MPa and a percentage absorption value of 2.1%. In accordance with the requirements of SNI 03-0691-1996 the compressive strength and water absorption values are included in the B quality used for parking lots.} }
