The use of thrust bearings to withstand the load of the rotor and turbine cannot be separated from the problems that arise that can cause losses. Losses that arise are not only in small amounts, but can also result in very large losses in the production process. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors causing damage to the thrust bearing on unit 4 of the Maninjau hydropower plant, the impact that would occur if the thrust bearing was damaged and the efforts made to prevent damage to the thrust bearing. The research method used in this research is descriptive method, data collection method by means of observation, interviews, and literature study. The results of the study concluded that the factor causing the thrust bearing damage in unit 4 PLTA Maninjau was the misalignment of the thrust bearing surfaces caused by the unequal height of the thrust bearing support bolts. The impact that occurs is a decrease in the capacity of the Maninjau 4 PLTA unit to 7 MW from the operating capacity of 17 MW. Efforts to prevent it reset the height of the thrust bearing bolts so that the surface of each part of the thrust bearing is flat.} }
