This phenomenon occurs in all electromagnetic devices, one of which is a transformer. This phenomenon can cause failures that affect the life of the transformer. So, an effort is needed to reduce the inflow. One method to reduce the inrush current is the capacitor insertion method. The purpose of this experiment is to reduce the inrush current with different conditions. The capacitor insertion method seems to be a switch because it is a place for the residual flux to be channeled as one of the factors for the emergence of heavy currents. The method of generating residual flux in this study is to first energize the transformer for 2 minutes before the experiment is carried out. To maintain the safety of the experimental equipment, a simulation was made with the ATP- Draw software beforehand. The inrush current results from the simulation are 13.59 A for no-load conditions, and 8.10 A when loaded. The results obtained from the experiment are when the open circuit is 12.29 A while the 25% load condition is 8.25 A. After carrying out the inrush current reduction method, the value obtained is 3.56 A when open circuit, 2.78 A when 25% load, and 4.42 A. By applying the insertion capacitor method, the inrush current was successfully reduced by 71.03% for the no- load state, and 66.30% for the loaded state} }
