Earthing on the ground wire is installed every at least 5 poles, with a grounding resistance value of 5 , and the placement of arresters is installed every 2 poles on the line. This research was conducted on the Beam feeder at PT. PLN (Persero) ULP Sawangan. This study aims to determine the reduction in the number of disturbances from the installation of ground wire and the placement of arresters with their protection distance. Based on the calculation results with the arrester data used, the total distance of the arrester protection on the beam feeder is 6.183 km. The number of lightning disturbances in the beam feeder before the ground wire was installed was 5,695 disturbances / year and after the ground wire was installed it became 3,834 disturbances / year. So that there is a reduction in the number of lightning disturbances after the ground wire is installed in the channel by 32.677%.} }
