Without exception, Indonesia has a tropical climate with average air temperature and high humidity. As the standard compressor air intake temperature set by the turbine manufacturer is 15ºC with 60% air conditioning (ISO condition). The high temperature and high humidity affect the performance of gas turbines at PLTGU Blok 5, located in Muara Tawar, Bekasi. Alstom 13E2 turbine gas which is made in Europe certainly cannot operate optimally in Indonesia due to higher environmental temperature factors. Because in Europe has a low average ambient temperature, the efficiency of a gas turbine decreases only during the summer. Therefore, to optimize the performance of the gas turbine and increase the turbine output power, a study on the feasibility of the cooling system at the power plant is needed. According to the author, based on the local environmental climatic conditions and the needs that need to be fulfilled, the cooling system that is suitable to be applied to Muara Tawar PLTGU Block 5 which operates at peak load is a mechanical refrigeration ?
