		abstract={Batik has become one of the identities of the Indonesian nation that UNESCO has designated as a Cultural Heritage of No Intangible Human Heritage. This proves that batik has become a form of Indonesian cultural wealth that should be preserved. With the current conditions, batik motifs and philosophies are hard to find to prove their authenticity, so it involves culturalists who know the authenticity of their motifs and philosophies less and less. This study aims to make an application for the introduction of batik motifs that can preserve batik culture. Applications are made utilizing image processing using canny edge detection and template matching. The results of this study are all batik motifs tested can be recognized by the application being built. it can be concluded that pattern recognition with canny edge detection methods and template matching can be used for the introduction of typical South Sumatra batik motifs.
