		abstract={Choosing majors in High school to develop three competencies, such
as Attitude, Knowledge, and Skills based on interest, talent, and/or
academic ability is one of the key success to build a better future. Therefore,
choosing majors starts from the beginning of their high school education (tenth
grade) to build a good and strong foundation. SMA Al-Azhar BSD, which
become object of this research, have some lack in the process to help their
student for choosing the right majors for them such as it takes longer time
(almost 2 weeks), and in some case, leads to error because the process of
determining the majors is done manually. To overcome this problem, then
researcher create a decision support system that can help counseling guidance
to determine which majors fit to each one of their students. The criteria used in
this research are total average score of their Junior High School, Junior High
School Score, Junior National Exam Score, School Recommendation of Origin,
and Student Interest. The method used in determining the specialization of this
department is the Simple Additive Weighting method. This method was chosen
because it is able to make an assessment more precisely because it is based
on the criteria and weighted preference values that have been determined,
besides that SAW can also select the best alternative from a number of
alternatives. The end result of this research found that decision support system
with Simple Additive Weighting method able to overcome the problems in the
process of majors in SMA Al-Azhar BSD. The values obtained from the
application is V1 (1) and V4 (0.825) majoring in science, while V2 (0.675) and
V3 (0.625) majoring in social studies.}
