Coupled with the depletion of high quality coal reserves in Indonesia, the government must start to anticipate it. PT. Lestari Banten Energy is one of the few power plants that have adopted supercritical boiler technology using low calorie coal as its main fuel. This thesis will examine how efficiently the use of supercritical boilers with low calorie coal compared to subcritical boilers with mid rank coal commonly used in Indonesia. From the results of research shows that in terms of fuel consumption of supercritical boilers using lowrank coal with a value of 0.557576 able to compete with subcritical boiler using mid rank coal with fuel consumption value of 0.514965. And the thermal efficiency obtained shows that the use of supercritical boilers supports the efficiency of the plant with an efficiency of 40.35% versus 33.67% efficiency of the subcritical comparator boiler. The use of low-calorie coal causes low emissions of SOx, NOx, and fly-ash pollutants, which makes supercritical generation emissions much lower than the government's minimum.} }
