		abstract={This study aims to determine the differences in the perception of the accounting profession in terms of accounting as a profession, a career accountant, accountant as a discipline and accountants as a group activity at public universities accounting students and accounting students of private universities in Surabaya. The data used are primary data. Total population in this study were 40 respondents accounting students of state universities and 40 respondents accounting students of private universities in Surabaya. Sample selection is done by using a random sampling method, in order to obtain a sample of 80 respondents. Independent variables used are as a career accountant, accounting as a discipline, as a professional accountant, and accounting as a group activity, and the dependent variable used is the accounting profession. Methods of data analysis using Mann Whitney test (t-test). Data processing was performed using SPSS version 20 for Windows. In accordance with the purpose of the study, the authors sought to determine the differences between the understanding of each respondent.
