abstract={The compass system is one of the navigation system that used in DC-9 aircraft.
Compass system have function as instrument to indicate heading of aircraft and
displayed in compass indicator eventually instrument is facilitate pilot when he will
determine destination direction. The compass system in compass indicator consist of
dual pointer, card and lubber line these must be good condition operational function.
Failure in compass card can make failed compass reading.
The failure can be detected with some identification and component testing.
Failure card does not rotate with sync knob rotation can make failed compass reading
in aircraft. Troubleshooting process is done by replacing compass indicator with
serviceable component
After troubleshooting and retesting, the compass card is can be rotated and
indicate true course. This displayed on compass card and compass indicator have
returned to serviceable conditions and can be operational.}
