abstract={Indonesia has a policy to control population growth, including through the Family Planning program. One contraceptive that has received quite a lot of interest is injectable contraception. Using 3-monthly injectable contraceptives has the main side effect, namely changes in body weight. The research purspose was determined the relationship between the using duration of 3 months injectable contraceptives and the weight gain of contraceptive acceptors at the Grogol Community Health Center.
This is a type of analytical observational research/analytic survey with a cross sectional design. The research sample was 38 people receiving 3-month injectable contraception at the Grogol Community Health Center, Sukoharjo Regency. Research data consists of primary and secondary data. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used univariate and bivariate analysis. Bivariate analysis used the Chi Square test.
The research results showed that 1) Characteristics of 3-month contraceptive injection acceptors at the Grogol Community Health Center were aged 20-35 years (89.5%), high school education (63.2%), and housewives (44.7%). 2) The majority of 3-month injection contraceptive acceptors at the Grogol Community Health Center have used 3-month injectable contraception for more than 2 years (55.3%). 3) The majority of 3-month contraceptive injection acceptors at the Grogol Community Health Center experienced weight gain (78.9%). 4) There is a relationship between the duration of using contraceptive injections for 3 months and the weight gain of who accept contraceptives at the Grogol Community Health Center, Sukoharjo Regency (0.006 < 0.005).
The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between the duration of using injectable contraceptives for 3 months and the weight gain of contraceptives acceptors at the Grogol Community Health Center, Sukoharjo Regency.
