The strategy used is the study of phenomenology. Sources of data were obtained from informants, the head of MGMP English in Gresik, MGMP coach, and core teacher in MGMP. Data analysis techniques use reduction analysis, displaying, and drawing conclusions from the analysis results. The result of the research shows that the development program of English proficiency profession in Gresik junior high school is in the form of MGMP and better education program (BERMUTU). Professional English proficiency development program has been done through various collaborative programs, supported by MKKS, Education authorities, and also the supervisor of the subjects. Professional development program through MGMP is divided into two, namely professional competence development program and pedagogic competence. The BERMUTU program includes six main learning models: learning studies, problem identification and action planning, action implementation and observation, data collection and analysis, reflection and follow-up, and reporting activities. Programs needed for professional development of English teacher according to informants that include training of professional competence, pedagogic competence, and social competence. In accordance with legislation which states that the competence is a standard of competence that must be owned by the teacher. The results stated that the program was already running, in accordance with the needs of professional development for teachers. This is evidenced by the various activities that are training to improve the pedagogical and professional competence of English teachers in Gresik High School.} }
