		abstract={This study focused on describing need analysis of internet in SMA Negeri 02 Batu. The statement of the problem was focused on how is the needs of internet in SMA Negeri 02 Batu?

This research used descriptive quantitative design because it required statistical measurement data in order to get the final finding of the research. However, this study was different from experimental research because it did not have any treatment and manipulation of the variables. The instruments used questionnaire and unstructured interview. The research subject in this study was second grade students in SMA Negeri 02 Batu that consists of 30 students. The sample were 30 students class of II IPA II. The observation was done twice.

The result of this study showed that the needs analysis of internet in SMA Negeri 02 Batu was highly needed. Internet can give the students a lot of informations and increased their knowledge included in English subject. Besides internet also gives entertainment to avoid them from boring things, they can download any kinds of musics, playing games online and make communication with anyone in the world by using social network.

The positive effect of using internet in school was the students in SMA Negeri 02 Batu will know a new information soon especially about the lesson and it will improve their knowledge because internet can give speed and with access to valuable information. The negative effect of using internet is students are becoming addicted to the internet. They spend more and more time on playing computer games or just surfing the net without any particular reasons. Besides if there is no control from teachers or parents they may find something bad of internet such as online gambling and pornography.}
