Vocabulary is an important aspect of English skills because it is the foundation of speaking, reading, listening and writing. Having a large vocabulary, it will be easier for students to learn English both in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Meanwhile, if students are unable to have a large vocabulary, these students will experience difficulties in communicating or speaking and students may experience difficulties learning English and mastering the four integrated language skills. This study is conducted to determine the significance of the effect of realia as teaching method towords vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of smp negeri 7 metro. This research used quantitative research, cluster random sampling technique, and used the t-test formula. The research instruments were pre-test and post-test. There were 30 students for the control group and 30 students for the experimental group. The results of the analysis show that the t value obtained (3.483) is greater than the t table (2.01) at a significance level of 0.05 and a significance level of 0.01 which is lower than 0.05. Therefore, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that teaching vocabulary mastery using realia as teaching method towords vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of smp negeri 7 metro is effective. The researcher realizes that the results of this study are still far from perfect. Thus, she expects that other researchers conduct further research so that they can find other research findings related to this issue.} }
