Keywords: Head strategy, Competitiveness, School This research is motivated by the birth of new educational institutions resulting in schools competing in showing their existence. Schools that are of quality and have excellent service to the dynamics of education and the needs of the community will be able to survive and excel in the world of education. Therefore, a strategy is needed to increase the competitiveness of basic education institutions. The purpose of this research is to describe and understand the principal's strategy in increasing the competitiveness of SD Muhammadiyah Terpadu Ponorogo. This research approach is a qualitative approach, with a type of case study approach. Then conduct interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation and verification/conclusion. Checking the validity of the data by extending participation, stability of observations, triangulation. The results showed that the formulation of the principal's strategy in increasing the competitiveness of the Integrated Muhammadiyah Ponorogo Elementary School consisted of 2 things, namely: (1) internal strategy (a) seat meeting, namely arranging meetings with teachers, parents of students, and cooperation partners; (b) targeting, namely determining what services will be achieved in each semester. (c) positioning, namely making it easy for people to find suitable institutions for their children. And (2) the external strategy consists of (a) publicizing the school to the community, (b) increasing the existence of excellent institutions and services, and (c) planning careful planning in accordance with the changes and developments of the times.} }
