Propolis telah digunakan masyarakat untuk menurunkan tekanan darah. Penelitian terdahulu melaporkan bahwa propolis memiliki kandungan senyawa Caffeic acid phenetyl ester dan senyawa golongan flavonoid yang berperan merelaksasi endotel pembuluh darah serta memberikan efek vasorelaksan pada pembuluh darah sehingga dapat menurunkan tekanan darah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah melihat pengaruh propolis asal lebah Trigona spp. terhadap tekanan darah tikus putih jantan. Propolis yang digunakan berasal dari daerah Bintan, Lampung dan Makassar. Metode penelitian menggunakan Non Invasive Blood Pressure System (CODA) untuk mengukur tekanan darah. Tikus dibagi ke dalam 6 kelompok; kontrol normal, kontrol negatif, kontrol positif (Captoptril 2,5 mg/Kg.BB), Propolis Bintan, Propolis Lampung, dan Propolis Makassar. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa, propolis Bintan (200 mg/Kg.BB) memiliki persentase penurunan tekanan darah sistolik 14,38% dan diastolik 16,27%. Hasil ini menunjukan bahwa ketiga jenis propolis dapat menurunkan tekanan darah.
