This research uses experimental and control class. The population of this study were eleventh grade students from SMA Negeri 1 Juwana. The samples of this study were class XI MIPA 2 as the experimental class and class XI MIPA 1 as control class. This research uses quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. Descriptive text elaborates extensively on individuals or objects and helps students in capturing the text easily. This study used descriptive text to test students' reading ability by giving 25 multiple choice questions within 40 minutes. Based on Wilcoxon SPSS data, it was found that the LRD strategy increased the scores of 35 students in the experimental class and the score of 1 student remained the same. Whereas in the control class LRD increased 34 students with 2 students who had the same score. Asymp.Sig(2 tailed) is 0.01 which is less than 0.05 which means the data is normal based on the Wilcoxon test. Research on the use of LRD to improve students' ability in descriptive text did find significant differences between the experimental class and the control class. The N-gain score test in this study was 63.14 which can be categorized that the use of the Listen-Read-Discuss strategy is effective enough for eleventh graders at SMA Negeri 1 Juwana.} }
