An idiom (idiomatic expression) is a word type that has a different meaning from
the words in the sentence. The objective of this research had (1) to find out the
types and meanings of idiomatic expressions in the song lyrics of Imagine
Dragons album "Evolve.", (2) find out the most dominant type of idiomatic
expression found in the song lyrics in Imagine Dragons album ?Evolve.? (3) And
find out the contribution of idiomatic expressions found in the song lyrics in
Imagine Dragons album ?Evolve? to lexical teaching. This research used the
qualitative method. The object of this research was song lyrics from Imagine
Dragons Album ?Evolve.? The result showed that: (1) There have many types of
idiomatic expressions in the Imagine Dragons song lyrics on the album 'evolve'
such as phrasal verb idioms, tournure idioms, irreversible binomial idioms,
phrasal compound idioms, incorporating verbs idioms, pseudo idioms; (2) The
most dominant type of idiomatic expression was tournure idioms, which found 56
idioms in this song lyrics and represented 51%; (3) The contribution of idiomatic
expression in Imagine Dragons song lyrics to lexical teaching was as a reference
for the idioms material in Lexical Studies, and also it used for the lecturer to give
homework for students to understand the idioms.}
