This research contains connotative meaning found in selected Ben Pedary?s poems and their contribution to poetry teaching as concentration. The purpose of this final project are as follows 1) to find out the connotative meanings of selected Ben Pedary?s poems in each phrase or sentence. 2) to find out the meanings of each selected poem of Ben Pedary. 3) to find out the contribution of Ben Pedary?s poems to poetry teaching. Choice of poems as the object of this research caused by poem conceive many connotations whereby it associated to the author?s thought, culture and feeling to be analyzed more its meaning. Theory from Leech was taken by the authors to find out connotative phrase or sentence in selected Ben Pedary?s poem to be analyzed its meaning. The method used for this final project is descriptive qualitative to analyze the data. Based on Hook?s theory connotative meaning divided into three kinds: positive, neutral, and negative connotations. This research found all three of kinds in connotative meanings detailed as follows: 18 positive connotations, 5 neutral connotations, and 22 negative connotations. The meaning in each Ben Pedary?s poem is commonly about an unpleasant phenomenon that make the reader relate to the sadness consists in it because it is close to daily life. Furthermore, its contribution to poetry teaching are the students can be more sensitive to a language. Students can see the real-world and increase their knowledge. The students also can enrich their poetic vocabulary and activate imagination. Furthermore, understanding the implicit meaning can be trained to see something not only by one perspective} }
