Keyword: One Minute Talk Technique, Speaking Skill, Descriptive Text. Students in Indonesia study English as foreign language. Many students can write and read in English, but have difficulty speaking English, including have lack of self?confidence. Speaking English is something that students must master if they want to communicate with outsiders. By applying the technique of speaking English one minute a day, the researcher wished the students to have confidence and improve their vocabulary and make students accustomed to saying words in English. The objectives of the study were (1) to find out the extent of speaking performance of the student who are taught using the one-minute talk technique. (2) to investigate the extent of speaking performance of the student who are taught without using the one?minute talk technique. (3) to discover whether there are differences in speaking performance between students who are taught using one-minute talk technique and those who are taught without using one-minute talk technique. The design of this research was quantitative-experimental. The population of this research is seventh grade of SMP N 1 Juwana, and the sample of this research is 7A as experimental class and 7B as control class. The researcher gave pre-test and post-test to students in the form of spoken descriptive text with the theme of people or place. There was significant difference between classes taught using the One Minute Talk technique and classes taught without the One Minute Talk Technique in the pronunciation, grammar, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension. That was supported by the data, in which the mean score of student in Experimental Class was 68,62 and the mean score of student in Control Class was 53,75, and accepted hypothesis. So, the teacher must use the technique in teaching speaking because it could help the teacher convey the material to students and motivate their interest in developing speaking ability} }
