The title of this final project is ?The Implementation of Formative Assessment in
English Teaching to Enhance the Students? Learning Motivation a Case in SMA
Institute Indonesia Semarang in Academic year 2023-2024?. This research aimed
to determine the implementation of formative assessment in English teaching to
enhance the student?s motivation. The research design of this research was a
qualitative descriptive research design. The subjects in this research were tenth-
grades with 30 participants at SMA Indonesia Semarang. The instruments used in
this research are observation, interviews, open and closed questionnaires adopted
and adapted from Theodoridis & Kraemer,(2020). The collected data were then
analyzed using descriptive qualitative and closed questionnaires using SPSS 21.
The result showed that formative assessments implemented by English teachers in
SMA Institute Indonesia Semarang use quizzes, discussions, and Google Forms in
learning English. The challenges faced by students in learning English show the
result that students lack of vocabulary, lack of speaking English, lack of student
self-confidence, and lack of understanding when learning English. Another result
of the student?s motivation in English learning, when formative assessment is
implemented, shows that 82,1% of students have high motivation.}
