The purposes of this study was to identify the types of speech acts spoken by the English teacher in teaching learning activity at SMK N 6 Semarang based on the Searle?s theory speech act and to know what was the most dominant kind of the speech act. The researcher also found there were additional utterances used by the English tecaher in teaching learning activity. The kind of this research was descriptive-qualitative research. The object of this research was an English teacher of SMK N 6 Semarang in teaching learning activity. The researcher got the data from an English tecaher?s utterances and the researcher played as the primary intrument which she handled all of the processes starting from the researcher design until the data report. The data was collected by video recording and transcribed into the written form. In this research, the researcher found that there were three kinds of speech acts uttered by the Englisih teacher. There are directives, representative and expressive. The reseacher calculated the data finding and found 397 utterances. The datum of the data finding were directives 246 utterances with 61,96% , representative 45 utterances with 45%, and expressive 6 utterances with 1,51% . The most dominant is directives speech act (61,96%) and the most rarely is expressives speech act (1,51%). The most dominant is directives because teacher was often use directives (questioning) to handled the students in the classroom and make sure that the students was understood the aims of the English material} }
