This research used qualitative design which adapted descriptive qualitative. The objective of the study, (1) To identify the types of directive speech act spoken by the teacher to fourth students of English department Universitas PGRI Semarang. (2) To identify the contexts of situation in the English teaching and learning process of fourth students of English department Universitas PGRI Semarang. The result of data finding on the first section was there were 5 kinds of directive speech act used namely order, invitation, request, suggestion, and prohibition. There were at least 11 utterances in suggestion type being spoken. The second dominant type was request type with 8 utterances being spoken. Third most dominant utterance was prohibition with 7 times utterances being spoken. Fourth most dominant was order with 6 utterances being spoken. And least dominant was invitation with 2 utterances being spoken. The result of the data finding in second section which was to analyze the situation of teacher-students interaction in fourth semester class in University PGRI Semarang. Therefore, the researcher divided the situations in each type of directive speech found. Therefore, the situation in the learning activity was matched with the context of the directive speech found. The evidences were taken in video documentary in the classroom activity. Thus, the teacher-students interaction in learning activity in fourth semester class in University PGRI Semarang can be called as a good potential learning activity or an effective learning activity.} }
