The methodology of this study is descriptive qualitative research. The main
sources of this study is movie entitle ?The Greatest Showman?
The resulta of this study show that 1) The writer found five type of illocutionary
act, there were representative,directive, expressive, commisive and declarative, 2)
The dominant type of illocutionary act is representative, and 3) This study can be
a reference for the teachers in teaching pragmatics especially speech act. One of
way is using movie because it is evidently found that movie also has a lot of real
examples of speech act
