This final project is conducted in order to analyze error writing of indirect
citation in selected Final Projects in Universitas PGRI Semarang. The objectives
of this final project are: (1) to find out the use of the citation to develop review
related literature. (2) to find out the problem in using indirect citation in review
related literature of selected final projects. (3) to get a solution that might be
decreased indirect citation errors in final projects.
This research uses analytical qualitative method. In this research, note
tacking technique is used by the researcher to collect the data. The data of the
research were taken from final projects by the students English study program in
Universitas PGRI Semarang. The data has been analyzed by identification,
Finding error , provide possible solutions, describe the results of the analyzed
indirect citation .
As the result of this research, the researcher finds 34 errors indirect
citation writing. From the analyzing, the writer discovers two types of errors in
wrotong indirect citation. They are (1) making into reference (9%) and (2) writing
the source (91%). The researcher also discovers that all of the final projects use
quotation marks properly.The results of this study also showed that indirect
citation in the first paragraph in order to give the main information of the review
of literature. Then, most the final projects used paraphrase as indirect citation and
used non-integral citation to elaborate method and result of the study. The second,
There are two problems that caused error in writing indirect citation , like the
incomplete knowledge of grammar that caused the incomplete or bad structure of
paraphrase , the incomplete knowledge of rules in writing the source of indirect
citation that caused error in writing the source. The last , there are two solutions to
decrease error in writing indirect citation of English Education Department
college students in Universitas PGRI Semarang producing and distributing a
guide citation book special edition for final project , adding citation material in
final project preparation seminar.
The researcher suggests Universitasn PGRI Semarang should be kindly
held a seminar for citation and make a citation guide e-book in order to avoid
plagiarism in college students? final projects. The researcher hopes that this study
can be as a reference for the next researchers conducts a research related to
citation error. They can develop this study more.
