Keywords: Writing, Narrative Text, Animation Movies The objectives of this study are: (1) to find out the students? writing ability in narrative text before they are taught using animation movies, (2) to find out the students? writing ability in narrative text after they are taught using animation movies and (3) to find out the significant differences of the students? writing ability in narrative texts before and after being taught using animation movies. The type of the research was quantitative which belonged to pre-experimental research where there was a class only as the subject of the research. The population of this research was tenth grade students of SMK Sepuluh Nopember Semarang. The sample was class X TKR B which consisted of 29 students. The result of the research showed that the students? writing ability in writing narrative text was improved after students were taught using Animation Movies. It was proven by the result. The mean of the students? pre-test was 62,31 and the mean of students? post-test was 84,31. Then the researcher calculated the t-test to know whether or not there was significant difference between the students before and after taught using Animation Movies. The result showed that t-value was higher than t-table. The result of t-value > t-table (5.341 >1.701). It meant that there was significant difference of the writing ability in writing narrative text of the tenth grade students before and after being taught using Animation Movies. From the t- test result, it could be seen that the hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. In conclusion, Animation Movies was effective to improve students? ability of writing narrative text.} }
