abstract={Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.) has many health and medicinal benefits, namely as an antioxidant, anti inflammatory, anti-aging, anticancer, and lowering blood sugar. Meanwhile, its rind contains many xanthone compounds. The data from World Health Organization (WHO) in 2010 states that 25% of married couples have infertility problems and show that the causes of the disorder are 64% from women and 36% from men. The purpose of this literature review is to determine whether there is an effect of mangosteen rind?s ethanolic extract on the number of female Wistar rats? ovum (Rattus norvegicus) based on journal review in 2010-2020. Based on several journals? reviews, it was found that mangosteen rind contains active compound, namely xanthone. The best dose of ethanolic extract from mangosteen rind to produce ovum is 25 mg / 200 gram BW. From the review of several journals, it can be concluded that the mangosteen rind?s ethanolic extract affects the number of female Wistar rats? ovum. The higher of ethanolic extract dose that given, the ovarian follicle will growth lower.
