		abstract={The thesis  is  entitled The Codes  Switched in the Comments of ?aku pgn 
gemuk? Status of Language Student?s Facebook  Account. The writer chose the title 
because code-  switching is an interesting topic to be discussed and there are a lot of 
code-  switchings  found in the comments of status in facebook account. This thesis 
has two objectives. First, it is aimed at finding  out the types of code-  switching in the 
comments of ?aku pgn gemuk? status. Second, it is aimed at explaining the function 
of code- switching which is indicated in comments of ?aku pgn gemuk? status.
Documentation method was used to collect the data. All of code-switchings  found in ?aku pgn gemuk? status were  taken to be the data. In finding out 
the phenomena of code-  switching, the writer copied the comments of ?aku pgn 
gemuk? status. In analyzing the data, the writer applied descriptive qualitative 
technique.
Nineteen code-  switchings  were found in selected data. The types of 
code-  switching mostly found is intra-  sentential code-  switching (68,42%) which 
consists of nine code-  mixing phenomena and four transfer phenomena, and inter-sentential code- switching (31,58%)
Frequently, code-switching is used to reiterate the point (47,38%), to 
communicate more effectively (21,05%), to ease communication (21,05%) and to 
capture the attention (emotional) (10,52%).}
