Is a new alternative energy source in Indonesia. In South Sumatra Basin precisely on Middle Palembang Sub-Basin believed there are CBM with well log and seismic data. Currently in the development of modern technology we are required to look for environmentally friendly energy sources. Coal itself has a gas content in the form of CH4 (methane) which is an environmentally friendly energy, coal seams containing gas is called CBM (Coal Bed Methane). This research is located in southern Sumatra basin in the Muara enim formation. Muara Enim Formation selected as the research object because of coal deposits in the lining of the rock and the depth of coal that is economical in CBM exploration. In this block Muara enim formation encountered at a depth of 329-164m wellbore X-1. Data used in the study were four wells along well report, check shot data and 2D seismic lines assisted with software.. In the process these wells correlated to provide data for coal Source. Base on the well correlation Coal seams in studied zone thickened to the east, that controlled by sedimentation in Muara Enim Formation. The spread zone of the coal seams can be seen in well logging data as well as in coal horizon on the seismic data. CBM will be abundant in sub-bituminous coals, because of the high porosity of this type of coal as a trapped methane gas and coal types normally found at depths of 300-1000m. Deployment and the area of coal at depths of 300-7000m and at depths of 700-1000m obtained from the reconstruction of the sweet spot maps. For the thickness values obtained from the analysis of well log data. The coal seams is divided into 3 zones. Calculation of gas content (GC) using the data of proximate analysis laboratory (Pusat Studi Energi, 2015) with Kim`s Formula (1977). Furthermore, the calculation of potential CBM (GIP) using Kim`s Formula (1977), obtained GIP value at a depth of 300-700 is 3,74 tcf and at a depth of 700-1000 is 2,39 tcf.
