Keywords: online learning implementation, students’ challenges, solutions This study aimed at describing: 1) the implementation of online learning during the pandemic, 2) the challenges faced by the students, and 3) the solutions in minimizing the challenges. This study was a descriptive qualitative research that had 30 first grade students of SMP N 4 Singaraja as the participants. Observation sheet, interview guides, and questionnaires were used as the instruments to collect the data and were analysed by using Miles and Huberman (1994) analysis.The findings showed that 1) the implementation of online learning during pandemic was implemented to avoid the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. They learned by using Zoom, quizzes, and Google Classroom applications. The use of these applications was not effective enough for the students since online learning implementation was firstly implemented for more than a year, 2) they faced educational challenges namely lack of understanding the materials and students’ experiences that mostly appeared during the online learning, communicational challenges where they could not have good discussion and shared their ideas to the teacher and other students, infrastructure and connectivity challenges where the students had lack devices capacities and weak internet connection, self-regulation challenges included motivation and mental problems, and E-learning system support challenges where they could not easily access the learning applications. 3) To minimize the challenges mentioned, the solutions were having good communication with the teacher and peers; learning more about the material through other learning sources such as YouTube, reading books, or learning with family, and actively participating in the learning processes for a better communication. The students can used other devices to get better connection when the connection was lost. Last, making good learning schedules helped the students in managing the time well. To sum up, the online learning implementation was really challenging for the students. It is suggested that the students should prepare more knowledge to face the online learning implementation in the future. This research implied that the findings help the students to solve the challenges by themselves.} }
