		abstract={The purpose of this  study to analyze students? speaking skills at the eighth grade 
students of SMP Muhammadiyah. The method used in this study is a quantitative 
approach. Speaking test are used as data collection instruments. The results of this 
study is categories of students? speaking skill in each aspect. To get the categories 
of students? speaking skill, the writer uses the rubric and calculates the mean score 
of students based on the formula adapted from Brown, then classifies the category 
of  students?  speaking  skill  from  Harris.  For  speaking  skill  in  grammar  and 
vocabulary, the students have good categories. On the other hands, for students? 
speaking  skill  in  pronunciation,  fluency,  and  comprehension,  the  students  have 
avarage  categories.  Overall,  the  mean  score  of  stude nts?  speaking  skill  at  the 
eighth  grade  students  of  SMP  Muhammadiyah  Tanjungpinang  is  60,4  is 
categorized avarage}
