This research used quasi experimental design. The participants of this research were the tenth grade students at SMAN 1 Palmatak. They were X ipa 2 class and X ipa 3, which X ipa 3 was the experimental class and X ipa 2 was the control class. To know the effectiveness of the treatments, pre-test and pos-test was done. The test was in the form of writing test. The data of the test was analyzed using statistical analysis of the mean and t-test. The mean score of the experimental class was 55.30 for pre-test and 71.93 for post-test. Meanwhile, the mean score of pre-test and post-test in the control class was 55.66 and 61.36. However, the mean score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. Furthermore, the t- test result was a sig. (2-tailed) 0.01 lower than the level significance 0.05. Based on the mean score and t-test calculation, there was a significant effectiveness after the treatments in experimental class. In conclusion, the hypothesis was accepted that Self recording video was effective to teach writing Recount text at tenth grade students at SMAN 1 Palmatak.} }
