		abstract={The purpose of the study was to find out whether the used picture story strategy was able to improve the students' reading comprehension in the eighth grade of SMP NEGERI 1 KARIMUN. The subject of this research was the VIII-grade students which consisted of 32 students, 16 male, and 16 female students. this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) and decided to conduct action research by implementing the model proposed by Arikunto. There were two cycles with four meetings in each cycle. There were four boards in each cycle: planning, action, observation, and reflections. The students were more participated and motivated in the reading comprehension teaching-learning process. In the first cycle, the number of students who passed the minimum criteria for completeness of 74 was 16 out of 32 students (50%). In the second cycle, the number of students who passed the minimum criteria for completeness of 74 was 31 students out of 32 students (97%).}
