		abstract={This research aimed to find out whether using interactive multimedia could have a significant effect towards students? reading comprehension at the ninth grade of SMP Negeri 16 Tanjungpinang. This research used quasi-experimental design and involved 70 students which divided into two classes, 35 students in IX.B as experimental class who taught by using Interactive Multimedia and 35 students in IX.C as control class who taught by using Powerpoint. The research instrument used was a written test with 20 questions related to narrative text. Then, the researcher gave the post-test to see the increase of the mean score after treatment. The result of the pretest and post-test was analyzed using normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing. This research showed that the class was taught using Interactive Multimedia had higher mean score of 84.71 while the control class was 77.00. Based on the data, Sig. (1- tailed) was 0.000 < 0.05 (p <?). It means that H0 was rejected. Therefore, the use Interactive Multimedia was effective towards students' reading comprehension. Based on the findings the researcher concluded Interactive Multimedia more effective towards students' reading comprehension in narrative text, it could be used to help teachers and students in teaching and learning activities.}
