		abstract={The purposes of the study were to know and describe the students?
motivations in speaking English in Madrasah Aliyah Dabo Singkep. This
research was descriptive mixed method. The participant of this research are the
eleventh-grade students of MA Dabo Singkep which are 20 students selected as
participants were selected by random sample method. This research was
conducted for one month. The technique of analyzing data that the researcher
used was mixed method, they are quantitative and qualitative data. The results
of this study show that there are two types of motivation in MA Dabo Singkep,
they are intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. This means that they have different
goals to learn when they speak English. Some have motivation because it comes
from within them to actively speak English, then because of external factors.
Most students of the eleventh-grade of MA Dabo Singkep are have extrinsic
motivation in learning to speak English. This can be seen from the mean score
of extrinsic motivation (4,20) which is higher than the mean score of intrinsic
motivation (3,67).}
