		abstract={The aim of this study was to find out the correlation between students' 
mastery in using adjective and simple present tense on their achievement in 
writing descriptive text at SMAN 1 Bintan Timur. The type of research used is 
quantitative correlation to find the relationship between dependent variable and 
independent variable. The population in this research is the whole 10th grade 
students which amounted to 346 students. The sample used was purposive 
sampling. The sample was the tenth grade MIPA III which amounted to 36 
students. The instrument used to obtain data is a multiple choice test and a 
writing test. The multiple choice test consists of 20 questions for each dependent 
and for writing test consists of a single written command. All of these tests are 
used to obtain the results of student mastery related to adjectives, simple present 
tense, and descriptive text writing achievement. SPSS (Statistical Package for 
Social Science version 29 was used to analyzed the data which consisted of 
normality test, linearity test, and hypothesis test. Based on the data analysis, the 
results were in accordance with normal, linear and correlated standards. Result of 
significant value Sig (Pvalue) was <0.001 < ? 0.05. Thus, Ho is rejected and Ha is 
accepted, it means that the alternative hypothesis is accepted. Therefore it can be 
concluded that there is a relationship between students? mastery in using adjective 
and simple present tense between the achievement of writing descriptive text at 
SMAN 1 Bintan Timur.}
