This method had three phases: thinking independently, discussing in pairs, and sharing with classmates. The study aimed to determine whether the TPS method had a significant effect on students' reading comprehension ability at SMP Negeri 28 Bintan. The study employed a quantitative, pre-experimental research design. It utilized a one-group pre-test, post-test design that only used one group without a control group. Data were taken from class 8.A, which consisted of 23 pupils. The data was gathered via a written test in the form of a pre-test and post-test. The researcher employed a paired sample t-test to compare before and after treatment. The sig value (2 tailed) derived from the data analysis computed using SPSS is 0.000, which implies it is less than 0.05, hence Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. As a result, it may be inferred that the TPS strategy influences kids' reading comprehension abilities in eighth grade. A SMP Negeri 28 Bintan has a strong impact and is an excellent learning strategy for improving students' reading comprehension of recount text materials} }
