This study discusses about symbols in three masterpieces selected poems such as Maude Clare; In an Artist’s Studio;Winter: My Secret., which is about women’s stereotype in Victorian era, especially in the second half of the nineteenth century. The focus of this research is to find the symbols of women stereotype in 19th century in Christina Rossetti’s poems. Related to the discussion, the writer arranges the theoretical framework by theory and approach. The writer applies semiotic approach and focus to analyze the symbol and the meaning. The writer utilizes triadic-diagram theory of semiotic process by Charles Sanders Peirce, it is divided into three, representamen, object, and interpretant. In addition,the data taken from the poems in the form of text. The method of the data analysis is descriptive qualitative method. Based on the analysis of the data, the result of this analysis shows about the symbols of women stereotype in 19th century. The writer finds three symbols in each poems relates to women stereotype in 19th century, such as the symbols from the first poem “Maude Clare” are female as the inferior sex, female’s sexuality , and women’s self-efficiency. The symbols from the second poem “In an Artist Studio” are females objectification, women powerlessness, and female as an enitity. The symbol from the third poem “Winter: My secret” are women trapped by convention, women’s power, and women’s social equality.} }
