		abstract={Drugs (narcotics and hazardous materials) are now spread throughout the world and consumed by various groups ranging from teenagers to the elderly. Several people die from overdoses and even contract HIV from sharing unsterilized needles and syringes. This study aims to determine what are the factors behind the Misuse of prescription drugs as a trigger for the spread of HIV/AIDS among female prisoners. The location of this research is the Class IIa Women's Penitentiary in Pekanbaru. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. The result of this study is the lack of education about unsterilized syringes on drug use which trigger the transmission of HIV/AIDS to fellow users is the main factor that causes female prisoners in Class IIa Pekanbaru Women's Penitentiary to be exposed to this dangerous disease.}
