The novel was translated into Bahasa Indonesia by Widya Kirana entitled ?Anak-anak Kereta Api.? This research used qualitative descriptive method to describe, analyze and compare the data to the theory. The researcher found 113 similes in ?The Railway Children.? The researcher analyzed the techniques used to render the similes based on the theory of Albir and Molina (2002, pp. 509-511) about the translation techniques. In this research, modulation is the most frequent technique applied by the translator as many as 42 times, followed by literal translation 21 times, reduction 18 times, discursive creation 13 times, particularization 4 times, adaptation 3 times, compensation 3 times, established equivalent 2 times and borrowing 2 times. Based on the findings and discussion, translation technique is a tool to analyze translated text. The techniques can be used to analyze the similes in literature works. The researcher recommended another research of translation analysis of simile based on other experts.} }
