Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menjawab peran audit internal pemerintah dalam
mendeteksi kecurangan pada pemerintahan provinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Teknik
pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi dokumentasi dan wawancara dengan
auditor dan pejabat di inspektorat provinsi Sulawesi. Hasil pengumpulan data
dianalisis dengan metode kualitatif menggunakan pendekatan interpretif. Hasil
penelitian menunjukkan bahwa audit internal pemerintah yakni inspektorat
provinsi sulawesi Selatan memiliki peran yang mamadai dalam
mendeteksi/menemukan dan mencegah kecurangan dimulai dengan pemberian
pendampingan, pembinaan serta pengawasan dan pemeriksaan secra reguler
atau dalam pemeriksaan tertentu.

This research purposed to know the role of internal audit in the detecting fraud in
government of South Sulawesi. Data were collected by depth-interviews with
auditors and officials in Inspektorat of South Sulawesi. Results of data collection
were analyzed of using qualitative method with interpretive approach. The results
showed that the government's internal audit of Inspektorat South Sulawesi has a
role in detecting fraud begins with the provision of mentoring (coaching),
supervision and regular inspection or perpetually in a particular examination.
