		abstract={Thanking is the one of various forms of expressions which is contained in the movie. Thanking is the one of speech acts which has interesting aspects to be investigated, because it happens in people`s daily life when people help or give us a kindness or a favor. Gratitude is a desire to express thankful feeling. This research aims to analyze the gratitude strategy used by the characters of Going in Style movie. This study finds out the gratitude strategy used by the characters of Going in Style movie and the explanations of the function and the expression of gratitude. This research uses the qualitative method. It is analyzed descriptively based on related theory of Aijmer?s gratitude strategy, Einstein and Bodman?s the function of the gratitude strategy, and Cheng?s gratitude expressions. The data is explained by showing the situational context, and the gratitude strategy. From the analysis, this study finds three of gratitude strategy are used by the characters of Going in Style movie. and find the most function of gratitude strategy?s used by the characters is acknowledging a small/major favor. This study also finds there are seven expressions of gratitude which is used by the character in the movie.}
