		abstract={This term-paper is about code switching and code mixing used by Nicole Zefanya
on her interviews. This research focuses on answering two formulation of
problems as follows: 1) What are the types of code switching and code mixing
Nicole Zefanya used on her interviews? 2) What are the reasons Nicole Zefanya
used code switching and code mixing on her interviews?. In this research, the
writer uses descriptive qualitative to approach. The data are collected from the
utterances of Nicole Zefanya on her interviews. The result of the research shows
that there are three types of code switching and code mixing used by Nicole
Zefanya on her interviews : inter-sentential switching, intra-sentential mixing and
intra-lexical mixing. There are six reasons of Nicole Zefanya used code switching
and code mixing : talking about particular topic, interjection, repetition used for
clarification, quoting somebody else, intention of clarifying the speech content for
interlocutor, and strengthen request. The writer concludes the dominant types of
code switching and code mixing used by Nicole Zefanya are inter-sentential
switching and intra-sentential mixing. The dominant reason Nicole Zefanya uses
code switching and code mixing is talking about particular topic.}
