		abstract={This research aims to analyze anxiety that leads to defense mechanism in a movie script using
intrinsic and extrinsic approaches. The intrinsic approach was used to analyze data through;
characterization, plot, and setting according to Freytag. Through the extrinsic psychology approach,
the research applied the concept of anxiety and defense mechanism according to Sigmund Freud
that appear in the movie script. As a literary research, it used qualitative approach, using
interpretative of literary texts from the movie script Ready or Not by Guy Busick & Ryan Murphy
as a primary source and supported by some related previous studies, books, theories, and journals as
secondary sources. The result of this research is anxiety leads to defense mechanism. Grace, who
married Alex Le Domas because she wanted a complete family, remembers her family?s broken
past. It turns out that Le Domas? family has a strange tradition that requires anyone who wants to
join their family have to play a game in the middle of the night. Therefore, Grace?s anxiety increases
and leads her to use defense mechanisms and ends in tragedy.}
