		abstract={This paper discusses the theme of literary works by analyzing intrinsic and
extrinsic approaches of a novel. Through the intrinsic approaches, the applied
concepts are characterization, setting, and plot. And trough extrinsic approaches 
the applied concept is developmental psychology of Elizabeth B. Hurlock that
focus about late childhood development. This study is the variety of qualitative
research, types of literature research, nature interpretive I analytical methods of
data collection in the form of literary texts from the novel Pollyanna by Eleanor
H. Porter as the primary source and the supported by some literary concepts and
the definitions that are relevant as the secondary source.}
